USC’s Catherine Park and Jasmine Koo Named to U.S. Curtis Cup Team

LOS ANGELES – USC’s sophomore Catherine Park and incoming freshman Jasmine Koo was named to the 2024 U.S. Curtis Cup team, the USGA announced Thursday, July 11. 
 
The 43^rd Curtis Cup Match held every other year (except for the COVID-delayed 2021 contest) is set for Aug. 30 – Sept. 1 at the Sunningdale Golf Club in Sunningdale, Berkshire, England. This match up pits the top three U.S. Amateurs and the top three Irish and British Amateurs against each other in a team match-play format.
 
Park and Koo will make their debut in the event, as Park is ranked 6^th, and Koo is ranked 8^th in the World Golf Amateur Rankings. USC now has eight players that will have competed in the event, as Amari Avery was previously part of Team USA in 2022. 
  
Both players have had a busy summer, Park recently helped lead Team USA to a victory in the Arnold Palmer Cup over in Ireland; Koo excelled at the Toyota Junior World Cup, where she helped lead Team USA to a victory, as she claimed the medalist position at 16-under par. 

Park boasted a career year, leading the Women of Troy in almost all categories: stroke average (70.94), top-ten finishes (seven), wins (three) and rounds in the 60s (nine). Park posted 23 rounds of par or better this season, which is a new program record. The sophomore also produced the best stroke average in program history breaking the previous record set by Annie Park (2013) at 71.36.

Park finished her second campaign as a WGCA First Team All-American and was a finalist for the ANNIKA Award. She also was named to the Pac-12 All-Conference First Team and won the final Pac-12 Tournament Individual Title. 

Koo has been on a steady climb in the golf world, rising from No. 57 (Jan. 1) to now No. 8 (July 10) in the WAGR. During the 2024 season, the incoming freshman has posted one win, while finishing in the top ten in five of her six tournaments. The lone tournament that placed her outside that threshold was in the LPGA Chevron Championship, where she posted the low for an amateur and ended up 13^th. 

 

Koo competed among three of the Trojans at the Augusta National Women’s Amateur Championship (Park, Avery and Bailey Shoemaker). The incoming freshman finished second among that group, placing fourth, while Shoemaker ended up with the silver medal.
