CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Illinois men’s golf alumni Thomas Detry and Adrien Dumont de Chassart – both representing their native Belgium – begin the chase for Olympic gold on Thursday when the men’s golf competition tees off at the 2024 Paris Olympics at Le Golf National, just southwest of Paris.

Detry, the world’s No. 57-ranked golfer, is playing in his second consecutive Olympics after joining former Illini teammate Thomas Pieters at the Tokyo games in 2021 (Pieters also played in the 2016 Rio de Janeiro games), where he finished tied for 22nd in the 60-player field. For Dumont de Chassart it marks his Olympic debut.
A veteran of the DP World Tour, Detry is familiar with the Olympic venue, Le Golf National, which annually hosts the Open de France. In five previous appearances on the course for the Open de France, the Brussels native has made four cuts with three top-25 finishes including a tie for eighth in 2019.
The 72-hole (no cut) Olympic competition runs from Thursday, Aug. 1 through Sunday, Aug. 4.
Live coverage, from 2 a.m. CT – 11 a.m. CT is slated for each day on GOLF Channel and Peacock. Sunday’s final round will be followed by the medal ceremony.
Dumont de Chassart tees off at 3:22 a.m. CT on Thursday, with Detry slated for a 4:33 a.m. CT start time in Round 1.
KORN FERRY TOUR
Here in the U.S., play continues on the Korn Ferry Tour where Illini alums Brian Campbell and Dylan Meyer will tee off at the Utah Championship at Oakridge Country Club in Farmington, Utah.
Campbell is coming off a T60 finish at the NV5 Invitational last week in Glenview, Illinois. He is currently No. 8 on the Korn Ferry Tour’s season-long points list and is closing in on a return to the PGA TOUR in 2025, with all seven golfers currently ranked ahead of him in the standings having secured their tour cards for next season.
PGA TOUR AMERICAS
On the PGA TOUR Americas, rookie Piercen Hunt is coming off of his second straight top-40 finish – T31 at the Bromont Open and T36 at the Ottawa Open – and is back in the field for his sixth start of the season this week at the BioSteel Championship at Ambassador Golf Club in Windsor, Ontario.
