CHASKA, Minn. – Seniors Gordon Sargent and Jackson Van Paris and junior Wells Williams advanced to match play 124th U.S. Amateur Championship after stellar showings over two rounds of stroke play at the leading annual golf tournament in the United States for amateur golfers.

The Vanderbilt trio moved onto match play at the U.S. Amateur after finishing inside the top 64 over two rounds of stroke play. Van Paris paced the group, going 5-under through two rounds of stroke play to finish in a tie for eighth. Sargent and Williams each carded 1-under to finish tied for 32nd on the leaderboard.

The Round of 64 matches begin Wednesday at the Hazeltine National Golf Club. Williams opens match play at 9:10 a.m. CT, taking on Jacob Modleski. Sargent tees off against Tiger Christensen at 10 a.m. CT, while Van Paris will play at 11:30 a.m. CT against one of the 14 golfers playing in Wednesday morning’s playoff to determine the final 11 match play spots.

Golf Channel and Peacock will provide live coverage of match play at the 124th U.S. Amateur. The Round of 64 airs Wednesday from 10:30 a.m. CT to 1:30 p.m. CT on both platforms. The Round of 16 and quarterfinals will take place Thursday and Friday on Peacock from 4-5 p.m. CT before heading to Golf Channel from 5-7 p.m. CT. Golf Channel will have semifinals coverage on Saturday from 2-5 p.m. CT, while Sunday’s championship will air from 1-4 p.m. CT.

Van Paris was solid throughout stroke play at the 124th U.S. Amateur, as he carded 5-under over two rounds. The Pinehurst, North Carolina, native collected five birdies in Round 1 at the Chaska Town Course on Monday to finish at 3-under 67. Van Paris added another five birdies in Round 2 on Tuesday, finishing 2-under 70 at the Hazeltine National Golf Club to put him in a tie for eighth.

Sargent had a strong showing in Round 2 at the Hazeltine National Golf Club on Tuesday, as the world’s top-ranked amateur player carded 3-under. He climbed a remarkable 109 spots on the leaderboard on Tuesday to advance to match play, ending with a 36-hole total of 1-under. Sargent made his move early in the second round, as he rolled off three straight birdies on Holes 13-15 to sit at 2-under at the turn. He added another birdie on Hole 1 and would finish birdie-free over his final eight holes to conclude the round at 3-under.
