PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. — Vanderbilt women’s golf sits tied for third place with Texas A&M after carding an 8-over-par team total to start off the season. Freshman Angelina Tolentino led the way in her inaugural round for the Commodores, notching a 1-under-par 71 in the first round. She is tied for seventh place heading into the second round.
“I thought we showed some really good fight out there today,” said head coach Greg Allen. “I am super proud of Angelina for shooting under par in her first college event and at Pebble Beach. That’s something she’ll never forget.”
A trio of Dores—Sara Im, Ava Merrill and Tillie Claggett—all finished 2-over to begin their weekends. The three are tied for 12th individually. Lynn Lim shot a 75 and Charlene Chung a 78 in the opening round.
Vanderbilt has a sizable twelve stroke lead on fifth place TCU. Arkansas leads the tournament at 1-over par.
“I’m excited about the weekend to see what this group can do,” said Allen.
Vanderbilt will tee off at 10:40 a.m. CT to start round two. Live scoring for the event can be found HERE.
