DURHAM, N.C. – For the 23rd time out of the last 27 years, the Duke women’s golf program has been ranked in the top-15 nationally as the Blue Devils were No. 15 in the preseason Women’s Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) national rankings, as announced this week.
Coming off a top-14 finish at the NCAA Championship a season ago, Duke head coach Dan Brooks returns senior Rylie Heflin, junior Andie Smith and sophomore Katie Li, along with welcoming three freshmen to the mix with the addition of Anna Cañado Espinal, Carla De Troia and Martina Yu.
Brooks, who enters his 41st season with the Blue Devils, has led Duke to seven NCAA Championships, 21 ACC Championships and an NCAA-record 143 team victories over his career.
Stanford received all 31 first-place votes to earn the preseason No. 1 rankings, while Southern California, UCLA, South Carolina, Texas, Auburn, Wake Forest, Arkansas, Texas A&M, Oregon, Northwestern, Arizona State, LSU, Florida State and Duke rounded out the top-15 teams.
Duke is set to open the 2024 fall campaign at the ANNIKA Intercollegiate Sept. 9-11 at the Royal Golf Club in Lake Elmo, Minnesota.
