GRAND HAVEN, Mich. – With day two complete at the Folds of Honor Collegiate, Arizona senior Carolina Melgrati is the individual leader at 5-under par after firing a 3-under round of 69 at American Dunes Golf Course. The Wildcats as a team are in second place and only one stroke behind Florida State.
Melgrati leads a pair of golfers from Florida State by three shots and is one of four golfers under par for the tournament. The Italian’s approach shots were the difference on Tuesday, setting up four birdies after recording her lone bogey of the round on her first hole of the day.
“I started with bogey on 10 but then I tried to fix the problem by hitting a little left,” said Melgrati. “That worked, because my long game then turned out pretty solid. Some putts and saves went in, which is always nice. This is a beautiful place. I love the grass and playing with the sun.”
Lilas Pinthier shot a 75 in round two with back-to-back birdies on the 16th and 17th holes. She currently sits at 4-over for the tournament and is tied for 13th.
Charlotte Back shot 4-over par in her second round, including an eagle on her ninth hole of the day, and is tied for 18th. Nena Wongthanavimok shot a 76 and is tied for 21st after two rounds. Maria Cabanillas shot an 81 on day two.
The final round tee times for the Arizona Wildcats will begin at 5:45am (MST). Live coverage will begin on Golf Channel TV at 8:30am and finish at 11:30 am (MST).
