Women’s Golf in Sixth Place After Two Rounds of the Folds of Honor Collegiate


East Lansing, Mich. – Michigan State’s women’s golf team shot a 1-over par 289 in the second round and moved up to sixth place among 15 teams entering the final round of play in the inaugural women’s Folds of Honor Collegiate at American Dunes in Grand Haven, Mich.

The Spartans are in sixth place in the field at 18-over par 594 (305-289).

Florida State leads the field at 9-over par 585, with Arizona in second place at 10-over par 586, Ohio State third (11-over par 587), Texas fourth (15-over par 591) and Baylor rounds out the top-five teams at 16-over par 592.

Senior Brooke Biermann is tied for 13th place at 4-over par 148 (71-77), including a 5-over par 77 in the second round.

Senior Katie Lu bounced back from a challenging opening round and had the team’s best round of the day, a 2-under par 70. She is tied for 18th place at 5-over par 149 (79-70).

Sophomore Ana Sofia Murcia had MSU’s second-best score of the day at even-par 72. She is tied for 21st place at 6-over par 150 (78-72).

Junior Taylor Kehoe shot a 2-over par 74 in Tuesday’s second round and is tied for 25th place at 7-over par 151 (77-74).

Sophomore Paula Balanzategui had the team’s final counting score of the day with a 1-over pa 73 and stands in a tie for 43rd place at 12-over par 156 (83-73).

Michigan State tees off on Wednesday in the final round at 8 a.m., playing alongside Texas and Baylor.
