Fouillet, Fischer Lead Cal With Top-25 Finishes

LAKE ELMO, Minn. – The California women’s golf team closed out its first tournament of the 2024-25 season Wednesday at Royal Golf Club, posting its best team score of the week with a 2-over-par 290.

Led by their underclassmen, the Golden Bears carded an 8-over 872 through 54 holes, settling in seventh place out of 12 teams. Sophomore Constance Fouillet (75-67-72 | 214, -2) tied for 11th place individually, followed by freshman Marie-Agnes Fischer (75-73-71 | 219, +3), whose 1-under 71 in round three went down as Cal’s top score for the day.

Senior Kaylyn Noh (70-77-74 | 221, +5) finished tied for 30th place, while junior Adora Liu (73-74-77 | 224, +8) finished in a tie for 39th.

“I think we’ve had a solid start to the season,” said Cal first-year head coach Sofie Aagaard, who starred as a player at Cal from 2003-06. “We’ve had glimpses of greatness, and then we’ve had glimpses of where we want to put some work in. It’s great to be out here, see what we have, and start with a baseline to know what more we can do moving forward, and I think there are great areas of improvement coming ahead.”

Cal had an eagle in each round of the three-day competition, notching its third on the final hole of the week by Claudia Lara Miravitlles (73-77-73 | 223, +7). That capped off a successful debut tournament for the Bears’ freshmen, both of whom had started the week off strong with a birdie on their first-ever collegiate hole.

“We had a really young lineup, but that was really exciting to see our freshmen step in and perform in their very first tournament and put up good scores,” Aagaard said. “In Kaylyn, Adora and Coco, we have experienced players who are used to the college golf arena, so our two freshmen were not left to their own devices this week. They were cared for well by their upperclassmen and I think they got a really good introduction to the college golf game.”

The Bears’ three eagles tied for second-most in the field. Fouillet’s 14 total birdies – seven of which came in her stellar second round – were good for third out of 60 golfers.
