UNIVERSITY PLACE, Wash. –
Smith, celebrating her birthday Monday, posted back-to-back rounds under par, with a 3-under 70 in the first and a 2-under 71 in the second. At 5-under overall, she was tied for fourth place at the end of Monday’s play, four back of the leader.
Lu followed a 1-under 72 in the first round with a 3-under 70 in the second, tying her for eighth place at 4-under through 36 holes.
Freshman Amber Li, from Newport High in Bellevue, was the next lowest Husky, at 4-over par through two rounds. She carded a 1-over 74 in the first and a 3-over 76 in the second. She’s tied for 31st place, along with teammate Kennedy Knox, who turned in a 2-under 71 in the first round.
Senior Jamie Hsieh is one stroke back at 5-over par.
