Lu Finishes Fourth, Huskies Take Sixth At Chambers Bay


UNIVERSITY PLACE, Wash. – The Washington women’s golf team, led by sophomore Vivian Lu’s fourth-place finish, moved up two spots on the final day of the Leadership and Golf Invitational, landing in sixth place after three rounds at Chambers Bay Golf Course.
 
Lu led the way for the Huskies with her third straight round under par. She carded a 1-under 72 in round two, which left her at 5-under for the tournament, good for a tie for fourth place with a 54-hole total of 211.
 
Fellow sophomore Mads Smith, playing as an individual, was the next-lowest scorer for the Huskies, with a 2-over 218 over the three rounds, tying her for 15th place.
 
UW’s Kennedy Knox finished in a tie for 28th place, at 5-over following a final-round score of 1-over 73. Freshman Amber Li, in her college debut, tied for 34th place, three shots back of Knox at 8-over.
 
Next up for the Huskies is the Molly Intercollege Invitational, Sept. 30-Oct. 1 at Bayonet Golf Club in Seaside, Calif.
