OLYMPIA FIELDS, Ill. – An impressive first weekend on the collegiate tour for Jay Leng, earning a top-15 finish with two rounds in the 60s and a team-best 10 birdies on the weekend at the Fighting Illini Invitational. Stanford came in tied for sixth with an 8-over 84b8.

The San Diego native turned in his second sub-70 scorecard of the weekend in round two with a 3-under 67, the team’s best round of the tournament. Leng then capped it off with a 3-over 73 in his final trip around Olympia Fields.

After struggling in round two, Nathan Wang and TK Chantananuwat both sunk five birdies in the final 18 holes to finish with final-round 68s. For Chantananuwat, it is the first sub-70 round of the freshman’s collegiate career.

Ethan Gao finished the tournament with a 5-over 215 to finish tied-37th after struggling to build on his day one success. Logan Kim went 72-74 in the final two rounds of the Fighting Illini Invitational with four birdies on the day.

Stanford now returns home to compete in The Big Match alongside the women’s program in a mixed Match Play competition against California on Thursday, Sept. 26 at Menlo Country Club.
