SAN ANTONIO – A pair of Vanderbilt men’s golfers sit inside the top 10 after two rounds of play at the Valero Texas Collegiate, as sophomore Rowan Sullivan is tied for sixth while junior John Broderick is in a tie for ninth.

Sullivan collected seven birdies in Round 2 to post the lowest 18-hole score of his career at 4-under 68. The Charleston, South Carolina, native moved up 28 spots on the player leaderboard on Sunday, as he currently is tied for sixth. Sullivan goes into Monday with a total score of 5-under 139 and leads the field with 13 birdies.

Broderick remained tied for ninth after he carded even par in Round 2. The junior sits at 3-under 141 and leads the tournament in par-3 scoring at 3-under. With his performance on Sunday, Broderick remains the only Commodore to card par-or-better in each round this season.

As a team, No. 4-ranked Vanderbilt finished Round 2 of the Valero Texas Collegiate at 3-over 291. The Commodores go into Round 3 on Monday in sixth place on the team leaderboard with a 36-hole score of 6-under 570. Vandy has collected a tournament-best 118 pars through two days of play at TPC San Antonio.

“It was good to have all five guys in it for most of the day, which we knew would be important,” said Vanderbilt men’s golf head coach Scott Limbaugh. “Obviously, I’m very proud of Rowan, as he played a really good round and made some key putts. As a team, we had an opportunity for a good round on a much tougher day, but we didn’t finish to our standards. This is a new team, and we are working to form our identity. I think we have to continue to be more consistent with our mindset and also more consistent with our attitudes. I believe in this team, and I believe in our leadership, but we have to take ownership of our actions.”

Seniors Gordon Sargent and Jackson Van Paris each sit inside the top 20, as they are tied for 18th at 2-under 142. Van Paris was one of three Dores to card 1-over 73 in Round 2, with junior Wells Williams and freshman Ryan Downes matching his total. Sargent leads the tournament in par-5 scoring after two rounds at 6-under.

Ole Miss holds a one-stroke lead over No. 8-ranked Oklahoma going into Round 3 in San Antonio, as the Rebels sit a 23-under 553 through 36 holes. Auburn’s Josiah Gilbert is in first place on the player leaderboard after two rounds with a score of 11-under 133.
