Tennessee Women's Golf Places Third at Cavalier Regional Preview


CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – In its second tournament of the fall, Tennessee women’s golf secured a third-place finish at the Cavalier Regional Preview as three Lady Vols placed inside the top 20. 

Bailey Davis led the way for the Big Orange and secured back-to-back top-10 finishes. 

The senior closed out the tournament with an even-par 71 to tie for sixth after shooting 1-under overall. She now has seven career top-10 showings. 

Junior Manassanan Chotikabhukkana tied for 10th at the Cavalier Regional Preview after logging an even-par 54-hole total.

The Bangkok, Thailand, native’s best round came in round two when she notched a 1-under 71.

Freshman Kyra Van Kan recorded a top-20 showing for the event, aided by a pair of 71s in the first two rounds.

Competing individually for the Lady Vols, Sofie Engeseth finished inside the top 25, marking the first top-25 showing of her collegiate career.

In her Tennessee debut, sophomore Sophie Bierstorfer tied for 30th. Her lowest round of the tournament came in the second round when she recorded a 3-under 69.

The final member of UT’s lineup, Sophie Christopher, tied for 56th.

UP NEXT: The Lady Vols will travel to Chapell Hill, North Carolina, to take part in the Ruth’s Chris Tar Heel Invitational, which runs from Friday, Oct. 11 through Sunday, Oct. 13.
