SAMMAMISH, Wash. – The Washington men’s golf team sits tied for 10th after Day One at The Tindall at Aldarra Golf Club.
The Huskies finished the opening round at two over par and ended the day with a total of five over par after completing the two continuous rounds of play on a sunny day in western Washington.
Drew Warford highlighted the day for the Huskies, firing a six-under 65 first round, the lowest round of his career, and a two-under second round. He ended the day with 2 eagles and 10 birdies, tied for second in the event at -8 to lead UW.
“(Drew) is the most experienced man in the field on this golf course and I think that gave him confidence,” said head coach Alan Murray. “He played some excellent golf today”
After finishing one over after round one, Finn Koelle mixed in three birdies with three bogies to finish the day at +1, tied for 31st.
Amilkar Bhana finished the day five shots over par, tied for 54th, while Brock Maulding and Abel Derksen rounded things out for the Dawgs at tied for 64th, both ending the day eight-over.
“Overall, out team hit far too many loose shots and didn’t capitalize when we were in good position,” said Murray. “We need to regroup and come out fighting tomorrow to try and climb the leaderboard.”
The Huskies will finish up play at The Tindall on Tuesday, teeing off at Aldarra Golf Club at 8:03 a.m. PT.
