Tournament Tidbits: Diane Thomason Invitational


IOWA CITY, Iowa — The Wisconsin women’s golf team competes this weekend at the Diane Thomason Invitational, hosted by Iowa, with competition taking place Monday through Tuesday.

Here are five things to know before the Badgers tee off:

1. THE TOURNAMENT: The Diane Thomason Invitational is slated for Monday, Sept. 30 and Tuesday, Oct. 1, with 36 holes being played on Monday and 18 holes being played on Tuesday. Tee times on both days will begin at 8:30 a.m. CT with a shotgun start both days.

2. THE FIELD: Teams competing along with Wisconsin include Bowling Green, Drake, Iowa, Missouri State, Montana State, North Dakota State, Northern Illinois, UNI, Oklahoma City, Southern Illinois, Southern Miss, UAB, UTRGV and UTSA.

3. THE COURSE: Home of the University of Iowa, the Finkbine Golf Course is a par-72 and will be playing at 6,437 yards for the tournament. Finkbine Golf Course at the University of Iowa takes its name from the man who donated the land to the university. Robert Bruce Harris (a prolific Midwest designer after the Second World War) originally laid out the course in 1953, which was later remodelled by Harris’s assistant, Dick Nugent.

4. LINEUP: Wisconsin’s lineup includes (1) Carly Carter, (2) Chloe Chan, (3) Alexia Siehl, (4) Kate Brody and (5) Ava Salay. Izzi Stricker will be competing individually.
