CHICAGO – USC women’s golf freshman Jasmine Koo (Cerritos, Calif./Cerritos) was named Big Ten Women’s Golfer of the Week for the week of Sept. 27-Oct. 2; the conference announced on Thursday, Oct. 3.
Koo earned her first career weekly honor after winning her first tournament at the Windy City Collegiate Classic on Sept. 30-Oct. 1. The freshman led from round one to the end, as she bested everyone in the field by at least two strokes. Koo is the first USC freshman to win a tournament title since Amari Avery (Icon Invitational; Feb. 22, 2022). During her tournament, she carded a 68-67-76 (-5) in three rounds, giving her her first two rounds in the 60s.
Koo’s win means that this was the first time since 2015-16 that the two different Trojans have won back-to-back individual tournament titles. During that season, Amy Lee claimed the Matador Invitational, and Robyn Ree won The Gold Rush tournament.
This is the Women of Troy’s second-ever Big Ten weekly award, as junior Catherine Park earned the honor on Sept. 19.
Koo helped the team earn a top-three finish as they went against ten top-20 teams and five B10 teams at the Windy City Collegiate Classic. The Women of Troy finished 25-over par as they were eight strokes behind South Carolina (+17) for second place, as Arizona State won the tournament at 11-over par.
USC will have some time before its next tournament, slated for the Stanford Intercollegiate starting Friday, Oct. 18, through Sunday, Oct. 20, at the Stanford Golf Course in Stanford, Calif.
