In September, Thompson Golf Group acquired Diamondback National Golf Club in Abilene, Texas. This will bring a host of significant improvements to the property, including rebranding the course with the new name of Live Oak Golf Club.
The club has been a beloved fixture in the Abilene area and the improvements Thompson Golf is planning include new bridges, which are scheduled to begin installation in late October; a new website (http://www.liveoakgolfclub.com) with online tee time availability and up-to-date course information; rebranding efforts such as new scorecards, golf flags and various on-course items featuring the new Live Oak Golf Club name, as well as fresh merchandise in the golf shop; a remodel of the clubhouse’s F&B area in mid-December; new pass programs and a loyalty program to be announced by the end of the year; and a new Yamaha golf cart fleet scheduled for delivery in March 2025.
Live Oak Golf Club will also continue to honor the legacy of Charles Coody, the original owner of the course and renowned Masters champion. Coody spent many years maintaining and enhancing the quality of the course and Thompson Golf plans to improve the club’s offerings even further by building on that foundation.
Thompson Golf Group’s portfolio consists of six courses in Arizona, Minnesota and Texas, with a management team boasting 130 years of combined industry experience.
