CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Duke women’s golf fans looking to see the Blue Devils compete locally will have their chance this week as Duke is set to see action in the Ruth’s Chris Tar Heel Invitational Oct. 11-13. The tournament will be held at the 6,081-yard, par-70 Finley Golf Course in Chapel Hill.
The 15th-ranked Blue Devils will compete against North Carolina, East Carolina, Florida International, Kentucky, Louisville, Michigan, Michigan State, NC State, UNC Greensboro, UNC Wilmington, Rollins College, Tennessee, Vanderbilt and Virginia Tech.
All teams will play 18 holes each day with Sunday’s final round being a shotgun start at 9:30 a.m.
Duke will feature a lineup of junior Andie Smith, freshman Anna Cañado Espinal, freshman Carla De Troia, sophomore Katie Li and senior Rylie Heflin.
This will mark the 45th time Duke will compete in the Tar Heel Invitational with the Blue Devils bringing home the hardware a total of 16 times (2018, 2017, 2015, 2014, 2013, 2007, 2005, 2004, 2003, 2002, 2001, 2000, 1999, 1998, 1997 and 1988. Duke head coach Dan Brooks has guided the Blue Devils to all 16 titles.
A total of 12 Blue Devils have claimed the Tar Heel Invitational individual title – Leona Maguire (2017, 2015), Amanda Blumenherst (2007), Leigh Anne Hardin (2003, 2000), Liz Janangelo (2003, 2002), Kristina Engstrom (2001), Candy Hannemann (2000, 1998), Jenny Chuasiriporn (1997) and Christine Casingal (1988).
Duke opens play Friday morning at 8:30 a.m., off hole No. 1 with Heflin kicking things off for the Blue Devils.
