Gators Defend Title at The Ally, Close out Fall Season with Victory

Florida won the fall tournament in back-to-back seasons as all six Gators competing finished in the top-25.

WEST POINT, Miss – The Florida women’s golf team defended its team title at The Ally, winning the fall tournament in back-to-back seasons on Tuesday.

The Gators shot a final round of 6-under to end 15-under for a six shot victory over host Mississippi State. The victory is also the 33rd all-time under head coach Emily Glaser; 34th total as she was an assistant coach for a season in 2011-12.

A quick start pushed the Gators ahead to lead by multiple strokes throughout the final round at Old Waverly Golf Club. Florida eventually fell into second late in the round, but Paula Francisco’s eagle on the par5 fifteen (499 yards) and final birdies on the back nine sent the Gators back into first.

Francisco recorded a career and team-best T3 finish with a 54-hole score of 6-under 210, tying her career-low tournament score. She shot all three rounds below par and all 2-under 70s.

All six Gators competing finished in the top-25 with three top-15s and four under par overall in 54-holes. Inès Archer had a T5 outing behind her three consecutive rounds of par and better, including back-to-back 2-under 70s in the final two rounds. She had a career-low tournament score of 4-under 212.

Both Siuue Wu (-2) and Addison Klonowski (-1) closed with final scores of 1-under 71s to place T10 and T15, respectively. The finish marked Klonowski’s third top-25 in all three fall stroke play events. In Wu’s three events the first half of the season, the freshman has T10 & T25 finishes with a record of 2-0-1 in match play.

Tied for 25th was sophomore Sophie Stevens and freshman Elaine Widjaja (I), marking their second top-25s of the fall.

The Orange and Blue tee off the spring season in the ‘Sunshine State’ at the Sea Best Intercollegiate on Jan. 27-28 at San Jose Country Club
