Spartans Close out Fall Season at Landfall Tradition


East Lansing, Mich. – Michigan State’s women’s golf team closed out its Fall season of a competition with a tie for seventh place at the Landfall Tradition, played at the Country Club of Landfall’s Pete Dye Course in Wilmington, N.C.

The Spartans shot a 14-over par 302 in the final round to tie for seventh place with Clemson for a three-day, 54-hole total of 10-over par 874.

Florida State topped the field at 2-under par 862, one shot better than second place Duke (1-under par 863). North Carolina finished in third place at 1-over par 865, Ole Miss was fourth (2-over par 866) and UCF rounded out the top-five teams at 4-over par 868.

Final Results

Senior Brooke Biermann was the top finisher for the Spartans, tying for fifth place at 2-under par 214 (75-69-70). After an opening round 3-over par 75, Biermann played the final 36 holes in 5-under par. This was her fourth time leading the team this Fall.

Junior Taylor Kehoe, who fired a 5-under par 67 on Saturday, shot a 3-over par 75 in the final round and tied for 13th place at even-par 216 (74-67-75).

Senor Katie Lu tied for 16th place with a 1-over par 217 (70-71-76), closing with a 4-over par 76 on Sunday.

Freshman Catalina Monroy finished in 83rd place at 19-over par 235 (80-74-81) and junior Paula Balanzategui placed 87th at 21-over par 237 (72-78-87).

Playing as an individual, sophomore Ana Sofia Murcia shot a 2-over par 74 on Sunday and tied for 33rd place at 5-over par 221 (74-73-74).

Michigan State opens play in the spring season at the Puerto Rico Classic, which will be held from Sunday, Feb. 2 to Tuesday, Feb. 4 at the Grand Reserve Club in Rio Grande.
