USC’s Jasmine Koo Earns Third Big Ten Golfer of the Week Award

CHICAGO – USC women’s golf freshman Jasmine Koo (Cerritos, Calif./Cerritos) was named Big Ten Women’s Golfer of the Week for the week of Oct. 24-Oct. 30; the conference announced on Thursday, Oct. 31.

Koo won her third-straight conference weekly award after claiming her third-straight individual title at the East Lake Cup (Oct. 30). Koo posted a new career low for the one-round challenge as she carded a 65 (-7), besting the rest of her competition by three strokes. For her third title win Koo was named as the No. 1 player in the NCAA’s Scoreboard Clippd most recent individual rankings. 

Koo has won three events in four career starts for the Women of Troy. Her three career wins include the Windy City Collegiate Classic (Oct. 1), the Stanford Intercollegiate (Oct. 20) and the East Lake Cup (Oct. 28). By winning these three events in succession, the freshman became the second USC player in program history to win three-straight events (Annie Park; 2012-13 season). 

The Trojans have now won four straight individual titles to open the season (Leadership and Golf Invitational; Catherine Park, Windy City Collegiate; Koo, Stanford Intercollegiate; Koo & East Lake Cup; Koo). This is the first time the Women of Troy have won four straight individual titles. 

This is the Women of Troy’s fourth-ever Big Ten weekly award, as she is the first player this year to win back-to-back golfer of the week awards (Oct. 24; Oct. 3; Oct. 24). Park won the first weekly award for USC on Sept. 19. 

The Trojans claimed their fourth East Lake Cup title in program history and first since 2018. Koo played a large part in the match play section as she went 1-1 and scored the first point for USC in the finals against LSU. 

Koo and the rest of the Trojans return to action at the Therese Hession Regional Challenge on Sunday, Feb. 2, through Tuesday, Feb. 4, at the Palos Verdes Golf Club in Palos Verdes Estates, Calif.
