Concert Golf Partners acquired Penn Oaks Golf Club in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It becomes the 37th private club in Concert’s growing portfolio and the fourth in the Pennsylvania/New Jersey area, joining White Manor Country Club in Malvern, Pa., Philmont Country Club in Huntingdon Valley, Pa. and TPC Jasna Polana in Princeton, N.J.
The historic club is located on 130 acres of land that were originally granted to Pennsylvania founder William Penn by King Charles II. This history is integrated into the club’s culture, with a distressed tree on the golf course recently being preserved and converted into a carved wood statue of Penn himself.
The championship course at Penn Oaks was designed in 1965 by Russell Roberts and measures 6,610 yards with a par of 71. The property also features a short-game practice facility and driving range, as well as “The Nest,” an 18-hole putting course on real grass. The course changes every two days to give players a new challenge every visit.
Penn Oaks has also received praise as a wedding venue. The William Penn Ballroom features crystal chandeliers, a large dance floor, a white fireplace and a scenic view of the golf course. The club’s covered patio features a bar corner and an open deck for cocktails as well as a trail to a gazebo.
“Penn Oaks is a key strategic addition to the Concert Golf portfolio, as it greatly complements our private clubs in the region and across America,” said Jordan Peace, senior vice president of corporate development at Concert Golf Partners. “This is another step forward in our mission, as we look to preserve the legacy and heritage of Penn Oaks, enhance its amenities and enable the club’s membership to thrive.”
