Women’s Golf Opened Play at Westbrook Invitational


PEORIA, Ariz. (February 23, 2025) – Washington State Women’s Golf opened their spring season with 36 holes at The Westbrook Invitational in Peoria, Ariz. Sunday.
 
The Cougars improved their second round by a combined 24 strokes as a tea and their score by 19 strokes, the eighth-best second round among the 14-team field as all five players improved their second round score by at least three strokes. WSU finished the day tied with Sam Houston for No. 13.
 
Sophomore Alice Johansson and junior Madelyn Gamble each shot two-under in the second round as Johansson finished the opening day tied for 35th at plus-one while, Gamble finished at plus-three and Sarah Skovgaard Bils closed the day at plus-five.
 
“We had to knock some rust off this morning but we made a few adjustments and played well this afternoon;” head coach Kevin Tucker said. “Everyone played with great energy, we are excited for the opportunity to compete again tomorrow and we have some good momentum heading into the final round.”
 
The Course and Tournament Format
The Westbrook Invitational is held at the Westbrook Village Golf Club – Vistas Course in Peoria, Ariz.
 
The course plays as a par-72 at 6,248 yards.

Monday’s round of 18 will have a shotgun start at 7:30 a.m. (PT).

The Field

In addition to Washington State and host Wisconsin, Chattanooga, Colorado State, Kansas, Kansas State, Louisiana-Monroe, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Penn State, Sam Houston, South Florida and UNLV will make up the 14-team field.
