Delon records third top-10 of season at Daniel Island Invitational

DANIEL ISLAND, S.C. –Valentine Delon fired a 5-under 211 (73-68-70) to tie for seventh and post her third top-10 of the season at the Daniel Island Invitational, which concluded Tuesday at Daniel Island Club (par 72, 6,166 yards).
The Hokies carded an 18-over 882 (300-294-288) to take seventh out of 14 teams. NC State, ranked 45th in the nation, won the team title at 17-under 847 (280-282-285), three shots ahead of tournament host College of Charleston. Four Wolfpack players finished in the top-15 of the field.
Joining Delon in the top-15 was classmate Emily Mathews, who shook off an opening-round 79 (+7) with back-to-back rounds in red figures (70-69) to tie for 15th.
Charlotte’s Pimchompoo Chaisilprungruang staged a final-round surge to win medalist honors at 13-under 203 (70-66-67), two strokes clear of NC State’s Marie Madsen.
