Second Win for Martin Sampedro – Stanford Cardinal

FAIRFAX, Calif. — The final round of the 2025 Juli Inkster Invitational lived up to the hype. Top-ranked Stanford entered Tuesday with a narrow lead over No. 3 Oregon and held a share of the individual lead. The Cardinal showed yet again why it is the top-ranked team in the country, using a second 11-under team round to win the Juli Inkster Invitational, with Paula Martin Sampedro coming from three-strokes back to tie for the individual championship.

Beginning the day three strokes back of the lead, Martin Sampedro saved her best round for last. She posted a clean round with five birdies and an eagle on nine for a 6-under 66. The round got off to a fast start, with birdies on three of the first four holes to vault her into a tie for the lead. Martin Sampedro then played steady the rest of the way to keep in lockstep with a crowded leaderboard. 

For the tournament, Martin Sampedro went 67-70-66-203. The 13-under over three rounds is the best finish Martin Sampedro has had in a tournament in her collegiate career, and the second lowest of the season for Stanford (Meja Örtengren – 201). Joining Martin Sampedro at 13-under for the tournament were Karen Tsuru of Oregon and Jasmine Koo of USC.

Martin Sampedro becomes the first Cardinal with multiple wins in a season since Rose Zhang during the 2022-23 season. She joins Megha Ganne as a two-time collegiate winner, becoming the 12^th Cardinal all-time to win multiple collegiate tournaments. 

Kelly Xu entered the day tied for the lead and finished well, losing the lead early but then playing clean on the back nine to join the fracas atop the leaderboard. Xu double-bogeyed on six to drop down a few spots but had three birdies on the back nine to put herself in the mix. Needing a birdie on the final hole to join the tie for the win, she secured a par and a fourth-place finish with her 68-66-70-204. At 12-under overall, Xu finishes with the lowest score in relation to par in her career as well.

Making a great charge into the top 10 was Megha Ganne, who shook off a 75 in the first round on Monday to post a 70 and 68 over the final two rounds. Her 4-under 68 on Tuesday featured just one bogey and five birdies, including a clean front nine. Ganne ends the week with a 213 over three rounds and has finished inside the top-7 in all four tournaments she has golfed in during her junior season.
