Viskari Leads Men’s Golf Day One at Mississippi State


University of Missouri men’s golf opened play at the Old Waverly Collegiate Championship on Monday with sophomore Veikka Viskari leading the way for the Tigers.

Viskari followed up an opening round 74 with a three-under 69 during the second round. The sophomore carded six birdies during the action, including four in his final seven holes, as he moved up 19 spots on the leaderboard and is 21st overall through two rounds. Overall, Viskari has 12 birdies in 36 holes of action on day one.

Three Tigers follow Viskari at +4 – Mattias Varjun (74-74), Brock Snyder (72-76) and Virgilio Paz (74-74). Two Tigers recorded eagles in the opening round with Paz carding a three on the par-five ninth and Trevor Mierl matching the feat on the par-five 15th.

As a team, Mizzou currently sits in 10th place of 13 schools with a score of +10.

Day two of the tournament is set for Tuesday morning with the first Tiger teeing off at 8:20 a.m.
