Husky Men’s Golf Finishes 10th At Western Intercollegiate


SANTA CRUZ, Calif. – The Washington men’s golf team posted a 12-over 362 on Wednesday, finishing the 78th edition of the Western Intercollegiate in 10th place at Pasatiempo Golf Club.
 
The tournament was the final tune up for the Big Ten Championships, taking place Apr. 25-27 in Baltimore.
 
Finn Koelle posted his best finish of the season, tying for fifth at five-under for the tournament. Koelle made a run up the leaderboard with an eagle, his second in as many days, on nine and back-to-back birdies on 12 and 13 to takeover solo hold of second place, but faltered down the stretch en route to a 71.
 
Jake Foley matched Koelle’s 71 to tie for the team’s best score of the day, rounding out the final regular season tournament of his freshman season tied for 22nd at three-over.
 
Jack Murphy and Drew Warford were one shot back of the pair, carding matching 72s. Murphy finished tied for 49th at eight-over, while Warford’s 13-over score put him in a tie for 70th.
 
Brock Maulding struggled over the back-nine with five bogeys, placing tied for 54th at nine-over after posting a 76 on Wednesday, while Abel Derksen scored a 78, concluding the tournament at 22-over for a tie for 86th.
