Schulz-Hanssen Leads Women’s Golf on Day Two of Big 12 Championship

HOCKLEY, Texas – Sun Devil Women’s Golf moved up on day two of the Big 12 Women’s Golf Championship.

No. 8 Arizona State (+17/585) jumped into sixth place in the 14-team field competing for the league title. Head Coach Missy Farr-Kaye‘s team improved their score by three strokes from the first to second day, allowing them to climb a spot in the standings. The Maroon and Gold sit just five strokes back of fifth-place No. 19 Arizona with a Territorial Cup point at stake for the side that finishes higher on the Big 12 Championship leaderboard. Head Coach Missy Farr-Kaye‘s team has one more opportunity to move up the standings starting tomorrow at 6:50 AM MST.

Junior Paula Schulz-Hanssen put together a brilliant second round and is firmly in contention for an individual title. Schulz-Hanssen shot a 69 (-1) on Wednesday, allowing her to leap into the Top-5 and end in a tie for fourth. She trails three golfers who share the overall lead at two-under by only one stroke heading into the final day of the Big 12 Championship. She is looking to become the first conference medalist for the Sun Devils since Olivia Mehaffey took home the 2019 Pac-12 Championship.
