Women's Golf Posts Record Score at SEC Championship

University of Missouri women’s golf wrapped up play at the SEC Championship Wednesday, recording a 54-hole team score of 869, its record best total at the event.

The Tigers closed the tournament with their record low 18-hole team score of 284, beating the previous total of 288 set on Monday and tied for the eighth best score of the day.

Mizzou’s record setting three-day total of 869 is six shots better than the program’s previous record of 875, set in 2021. They finished in 13th place of 16 teams ahead of No. 21 Vanderbilt, No. 36 Oklahoma and No. 55 Georgia, their first time beating three teams at the SEC Championship since 2018. With their second top-25 win of the season, MU picked up its highest ranked win since defeating No. 16 Miami at The Bruzzy in 2021.

Sophomore Fleur van Beek found four birdies on the day, tallying a one-under 69 to lead the Tigers and finish the tournament in 48th at seven-over (72-76-69) after climbing 10 spots in the final round.

Freshman Alexandra Berglund finished just one shot behind, posting an even-par 70 behind a birdie on the last hole to finish the tournament at six-over (73-73-70) in 43rd. Her 216 is the lowest three-day total by a freshman since Jessica Yuen in 2017. This marks the second-straight year a Mizzou freshman has finished inside the top-50 at the SEC tournament, as van Beek placed 41st last season.

Junior Melanie Walker closed a strong tournament where she totaled 11 birdies over three days with a two-over 72 to finish at six-over (68-76-72) in 43rd, tying for the team lead over 54 holes. Her tournament was highlighted by a season-low opening round 68 that featured seven birdies, finishing day one inside the top-10.

Overall, this marks the first time three Tigers have finished the SEC Championship inside the top-50 since 2019.

Addie Dobson turned in a three-over 73, improving on her round two score by seven strokes. Ffion Tynan finished just one shot behind with a four-over 74 to finish the tournament at 11-over in 57th.
