Women's Golf Earns Best-Ever Finish at Big Ten Championships

HAVRE DE GRACE, Md. – Despite the addition of four powerhouse programs to the conference this season, Rutgers women’s golf earned its best-ever finish at Big Ten Championships this weekend. The Scarlet Knights finished in 10th place overall out of 18 programs, including finishing ahead of a nationally-ranked Purdue squad and conference newcomers Washington.

Grace Lu led Rutgers on the leaderboard with a T19 finish, shooting 3-over for the tournament.

“This team has come together and improved their play in the last half of the season,” head coach Kari Williams. “It was a lot of fun to coach them and see them play so well this weekend on the biggest stage and against the best teams we’ve faced all year.”

Round 3 – Sunday, April 20

Weather: Partly Cloudy, Temps in high 60s, 15-25mph winds

Lucrezia Rossettin closed out her final regular season event as a Scarlet Knight with the low round for the Scarlet Knights. She rolled in four birdies and shot a 1-over 73 to move up 10 spots and finish the tournament in a tie for 40th.

“Today’s round was a nice way to close out my last Big Ten Championships,” Rossettin said. “I tried to play aggressively and freely, and felt confident in my game today. Our course strategy changed with the different wind direction and that helped me on a few holes that were challenging the days before. Our team finish was amazing and I’m so proud of this group.”

Grace Lu had the highest individual finish for RU, wrapping up the event T19 after a 3-over 75 on Sunday, including a birdie on 18.

Lorena Rossettin had a strong final round, shooting a 2-over 74 and moving inside the top 40 to finish in T37. Her final round featured three birdies.
