COLUMBUS, Ohio – Fighting Illini women’s golf posted a third-round score of 291 (+1) to finish ninth in the NCAA Columbus Regional, today at The Ohio State University Golf Course.
Yurang Li, competing in an NCAA Regional for the first time in her career, finished tied for sixth after her final round 69 (-3). After recording a 37 (+1) on the back to start the round, Li fired a 32 (-4) on the front, rolling in three-straight birdies on Nos. 3-5 and tallying an eagle on No. 9 to end the tournament. The sophomore’s strong finish to the round nearly saw her qualify individually for the NCAA Championships falling just one stroke short. Li amassed 12 total birdies over 54 holes, tied for fourth-most among the field. She was also just one of four players to record an eagle at the regional.
Anna Ritter finished tied for 32nd after her final round of 71 (-1), her lowest round of the tournament and lowest round at an NCAA Regional in her career. Ritter tallied two birdies on the day and 16 pars.
Lexanne Halama finished tied for 35th after a final round 77 (+5). Brielle Mapanao finished tied for 45th after her second 74 (+2) of the tournament and Victoria Zheng finished tied for 59th after a final round 80 (+8).
Kansas claims the regional crown, with Arkansas, Ohio State, UNLV and LSU also advancing to the NCAA Championship. The Jayhawks’ Lyla Louderbaugh was earns individual medalist honors at 12-under (204) and Houston’s Moa Svedenskiold (-2, 214) advances to the championships as the low individual not on an advancing team.
