Mathews led NC State with a 71.60 stroke average in the 2024-25 season. That mark is the 16th-best single-season stroke average in program history.
The Mebane, N.C. native played 19 of 30 rounds this season at even or below par. He finished in the top-15 in six of 10 tournaments played and had four finishes of sixth or higher.
Mathews opened the 2024-25 season by capturing the Rod Myers Invitational at Duke with a score of 14-under par. Mathews score related to par (-14) and total strokes (202) tied for the fourth-best in both categories in program history.
Mathews graduated from NC State in May with a degree in Business Administration. He finished the season ranked 25th in the PGA Tour University Rankings and received a membership into the PGA Tour Americas for the rest of the 2025 season.
