CHAMPAIGN, Ill. — Illinois head coach Renee Slone announced today the addition of UC Riverside transfer Sofia Vargas to the 2025-26 roster.

Our training facilities will be a terrific match for her work ethic. She brings incredible energy and optimism to all that she does and will be a terrific addition to our team dynamic.”

Vargas posted a 74.30 scoring average over 26 rounds for the Highlanders in her debut campaign, where she won individual medalist honors at the Wolverine Invitational, her first-ever collegiate event. Finishing with a 54-hole score of 206 (-10), she fired a 65 (-7) in the second round of the tournament, which matched the program record for lowest round.
The Riverside, Calif., native, also recorded back-to-back tied for 15th finishes at the Grand Canyon Invitational and the SUU Pizza Hut Invitational.
