Purdue men’s golf, women’s golf and wrestling were the eligible programs under the CSC at-large category.
Jasmine Kahler, Natasha Kiel and Momo Sugiyama represent Purdue women’s golf on the prestigious scholar list.
On the men’s side, golfer Sam Easterbrook and wrestlers Joey Blaze and Hayden Filipovich were also recipients of the honor.
Additionally, Sugiyama and Blaze have been named finalists for CSC Academic All-America recognition. First-, second- and third-team CSC Academic All-Americans will be announced on Tuesday, July 8 for the women and Wednesday, July 9 for the men.
To be considered for a CSC Academic All-District Team, nominees must have met the following criteria:
- Student-athletes must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically and must be enrolled at their institution at the time of nomination either as undergraduates or graduate students.
- Student-athletes who have graduated from their own institution during the current academic year and are not competing in athletics at another institution at the time of nomination are eligible.
- An undergraduate student-athlete must have at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale), while a graduate student-athlete must have at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) as both an undergraduate and a grad student unless they are in their first semester as a graduate student and don’t have an established graduate GPA.
- Each nominee must have also competed in a certain number of games/matches/tournaments this year, depending on the sport.
Sugiyama finished her career ranked second in program history in career stroke average (73.09), second in rounds in the 60s (12) and fifth in even or under par rounds (46). The two-time All-Big Ten honoree led the team in stroke average all three years as a Boilermaker, cracking the lineup for all 39 tournaments over the past three seasons. As a senior, Sugiyama paced Purdue in six different tournaments throughout the season, a team best, including the three postseason tournaments (Big Ten Championships, NCAA Lubbock Regional, NCAA Championships). She also excelled in the classroom, twice being named a WGCA All-American Scholar and earning Academic All-Big Ten honors three times.
