SEATTLE – Seven Husky women’s golfers earned more academic honors Monday, as the Women’s Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) announced its WGCA All-American Scholars list for the 2024-25 season.
Carmen Lim, Jenny Chang, Vivian Lu, Athena Ni, Kennedy Knox, Amber Li, and Wendy Tang were named to the All-American scholar team, a squad that includes 1,499 women’s college golfers from 403 various programs.
Members of the All-American scholar team must meet the criteria listed below for the 2024-25 season:
- Have an overall cumulative grade point average of 3.50 or higher.
- Be an amateur and on the team’s roster through the conclusion of the team’s season.
- Have played in 50% of the college’s regularly scheduled competitive rounds during the year nominated through the team’s conference championship.
The UW women’s golf program has stacked up a multitude of academic honors this season as, most recently, four players were welcomed to the inaugural UW class in the National Collegiate Honor Society (Jenny Chang, Jamie Hsieh, Kennedy Knox, and Carmen Lim).
The National Collegiate Honor Society welcomed 98 total UW student-athletes this year as part of the new partnership between the Big Ten Conference and Chi Alpha Sigma. Induction into the National Collegiate Honor Society requires that a student-athlete earn a 3.50 GPA or higher (on a 4.0 scale) and be junior academic class or higher.
Chang, Hsieh, Knox, Lim, and Lu were also named to the Spring 2025 Big Ten All-Academic honors, with Knox also taking home Washington’s Academic Excellence Award for earning one of the highest GPAs in the department amongst graduating undergraduates.
Chang and Hsieh also concluded their Washington careers earning some of the highest honors in collegiate athletics.
Chang tabbed First Team honors for the Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholar Award. Hsieh was named to the First Team, was Women’s Golf sport winner, and was one of 20 national semifinalists for the Arthur Ashe Jr. award.
