Cardinals Finish Sixth at Sam Golden Invitational


CORINTH, Texas — The Louisville women’s golf team closed out the Sam Golden Invitational in sixth place overall after the final round of action on Tuesday at Oakmont Country Club. Louisville shot a 2-under-par 286 in the final round and closed out the tournament at 20-under-par 844.

Senior Thienna Huynh led the Cardinals over the tournament as she logged a Top 10 finish. Huynh fired a 1-under-par 71 on Tuesday and finished tied for eighth overall at 7-under-par 209 for the tournament. She set a career best with her 54-hole score.

Veronika Exposito finished right behind Huynh at 6-under-par 210 for the tournament and was tied for 12th overall. In her final round, she shot an even-par 72 with three birdies.

Madison Moman completed her first collegiate tournament and logged a Top 20 finish. Moman was 5-under-par 211 for the Sam Golden Invitational and finished tied for 19th overall. In her final round, Moman was an even-par 72 with three birdies.

Millie Cottrell and Bailey Burkett rounded out the scoring for the Cards. Burkett finished tied for 46th overall at 1-over-par 217 for the week. Cottrell had her best round of the tournament on Tuesday with a 1-under-par 71. She finished tied for 57th overall at 4-over-par 220.

Next up for the Cardinals this fall will be the Mason Rudolph Championship down in Franklin, Tennessee. Hosted by Vanderbilt, the three-day tournament begins on Friday, September 19th.
