Chowiwattana Leads Terps at Cougar Classic


CHARLESTON, SC — Sophomore Chananyu Chowiwattana of the Maryland women’s golf team tied for 12th individually to lead the Terps at the Cougar Classic at the Yeamans Hall Club in Charleston this week.

Chowiwattana shot a 211 (67-69-75), which was two under. Her 67 in the first round set a new collegiate career low. She parred or birdied 48 of the 54 holes in the event.

Sophomore Anna Pillard tied for 42nd with a score of 217 (70-72-75), which was +4. In her first event as a Terrapin, freshman Noa Terroba Toro earned a score of 223 (77-75-71). Senior Surapa Janthamunee shot a 227 (73-78-78) and junior Julia Garcia earned a score of 235 (80-76-79).

The Terrapins earned a team score of 876 (287-292-297), which was +24. 

Next, the Terrapins will compete in the Nittany Lion Invitational Sept. 21-23 in State College, Pa.
