Li, Malixi Pace Blue Devils in Round Two of ANNIKA Intercollegiate

LAKE ELMO, Minn. – The Duke women’s golf duo of junior Katie Li and freshman Rianne Malixi paced the Blue Devils in the second round of the ANNIKA Intercollegiate presented by 3M, which is being contested at the 6,395-yard, par-72 Royal Golf Club in Lake Elmo.
 
Li carded a 2-under-par, 70, while Malixi registered an even-par, 72, and the preseason sixth-ranked Duke squad moved into ninth place with 18 holes remaining.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED – ROUND TWO

• The Blue Devils opened the day on hole No. 10 for the second day in a row.
• Katie Li opened with a par, two birdies and two bogeys over her first five holes, but closed strong playing the final 14 holes at 3-under-par to finish with a 2-under, 70.  She added birdies on No. 2, No. 4 and No. 9 on the day.  Li hit 14 greens and rolled 29 putts.
• After a slow start to her round with bogeys on No. 10 and No. 12, Rianne Malixi played her final 15 holes at 2-under-par on her way to finishing with an even-par, 72.She notched birdies on No. 2, No. 5, No. 8 and No. 15, while hitting a team-best 16 greens.
• The Duke trio of Avery McCrery, Carla De Troia and Andie Smith signed for rounds of 75, 76 and 78, respectively, to round out action.
• As a team, the Blue Devils finished the second round with a 1-under-par team score on the final nine holes and improved their team score by 10 strokes from Monday.Duke has totaled rounds of 303 and 293 for a 36-hole score of 596, which is ninth overall.Wake Forest (575) and Southern California (575) currently lead the event with Texas (580), Northwestern (580) and South Carolina (584) in the top five.

 
 
NOTES

• The Blue Devils registered 14 birdies in the second round, including nine over the final nine holes.
• Duke played the par-5 holes at 1-over-par on the day.
• Sophomore Carla De Troia registered a team-best 27 putts on the day.
• Katie Li moved up to 12th on the individual leaderboard, while Rianne Malixi is now in 26th.

• Duke will tee off in the final round Wednesday beginning at 10:25 a.m. (ET) and will be broadcast via livestream here via Babygrande Golf.
