TEE OFF

The No. 10 Florida women’s golf team continues the fall season after opening the season last weekend with a trip to the Inverness Club to defend its team title won at the biannual event in 2023. Play begins on Monday with 36-holes at 9:30 a.m.

HISTORY ON INVERNESS CLUB

The Inverness Club was founded in 1903 and along with the University of Toledo served as host for the 2009 NCAA Men’s Golf Championships. Inverness will host the 2027 U.S. Women’s Open and the 2029 U.S. Amateur and the 2021 Solheim Cup and has also hosted four U.S. Opens, two U.S. Senior Opens, two PGA Championships and one U..S Amateur, one U.S. Junior Amateur and the 2021 Solheim Cup.

TOURNAMENT HISTORY

In both trips at the event, Florida has won each time in 2019 and 2023. The victory in 2023 featured both Inès Archer and Paula Francisco, who finished 17th and T18.

LAST TIME OUT

Florida opened up the season with a 3rd place and 9-under finish at the Cougar Classic led by freshman Katelyn Huber’s 4th place and 8-under performance in her collegiate debut.

Huber shot all three rounds under par with a 68 (-3) in round three behind her first career round featuring a bogey-free 67 (-4) and round two of 70 (-1). The Gainesville’s native score of 205 is the second-lowest by a freshman all-time and tied sixth in program history. In her 54 holes, she made 38 par, 12 birdies and only four bogeys. She had stretches of 24 and 17 consecutive holes of bogey-free play.

The opening team round of 273 (-11) set the new program low in team round by score in program history as the final tournament score of 843 was the seventh lowest tournament total.

TOURNAMENT HISTORY
