LSU defeated North Carolina, 3-0, to win the Jackson T. Stephens Cup Wednesday at Shoreacres in Lake Bluff, Ill.
Niall Sheils Donegan and Sihan Sandhu both won their 17th and 18th holes to force extra holes, but each of their matches went unfinished after the Tigers clinched the championship with their third point.
The Tigers and Tar Heels finished three shots apart in first and second place, respectively, in Monday’s and Tuesday’s three rounds of stroke play to advance to the championship match.
Dan Hayes, Gunnlaugur Arni Sveinsson and Matthew Dodd-Berry provided the winning points for LSU.
