Fullbrook Leads No. 16 Florida State Through First Two Rounds of Schooner Fall Classic

NORMAN, Okla. – Sophomore Sophia Fullbrook is in a tie for 20th place in the individual standings, and the No. 16 Florida State women’s golf team is in ninth place in the team standings after two rounds of play in the Schooner Fall Classic at the Belmar Golf Course. Fullbrook carded scores of 69 and 70 as the 16 teams in the event played 36 holes on the first day of the championship because of the threat of rain in the area on Sunday. The event is scheduled to be completed on Sunday with a third round of 18 holes.

Oklahoma State is in first place in the team standings as the Cowgirls carded under par team scores in both rounds of play on Saturday. The Cowgirls (first place), Oklahoma (third place), and Houston (fourth place) were the only three teams to card under par scores in the first two rounds of the championship. Oklahoma State leads Iowa State by eight strokes in the team standings. Oklahoma’s Meg Tilma, who is playing as an individual, and Sydney Givens of Georgia, are in a tie for first place in the individual standings with identical eight under par scores of 132.

“Today was a good learning day for our young group,” said head coach Amy Bond. “Lots of good solid golf but not many putts dropping to help move us up the leaderboard. The girls are all getting more comfortable in this environment; I fully expect them to bounce back with a strong showing in the third round.”

Fullbrook led the Seminoles with scores of 69 and 70 for a 36-hole total of 139. She carded two birdies, and 17 holes scored a par or better in finishing with a 69 in her first round of the day. Fullbrook was 1 under par with one birdie and 11 holes scored at par on her final 12 holes of the first round. She began the second at birdie-birdie, finished with three second round birdies, and a score of even par 70.

Fullbrook’s score of 69 in Saturday’s first round tied her career-low score of a single round. She also carded a 69 in the second round of the Folds of Honor Collegiate during the Fall of 2024.

Sophomore Alexandra Gazzoli is in a tie for 26th place in the individual standings with scores of 69-71. She totaled a team-leading eight birdies over the course of her 36 holes and has an even par total score of 140. Gazzoli closed out her first round with three birdies and five holes scored at par on her final eight holes of the round to finish with her under par 69.

Gazzoli’s score of 69 ranks as the best single round score of her 30-round Florida State career.
