Eyes Set on Big Match – Stanford Cardinal

STANFORD, Calif. — Stanford men’s golf is back in action this week, starting a stretch run of four rounds in five days beginning with the sixth rendition of The Big Match on Thursday, September 25 at the Menlo Country Club.

THE COURSE » The storied Menlo Country Club hosts the Big Match for the sixth time, serving as the lone track to host the event. The setup includes a 6,732-yard, par-71 layout and will serve as a premium setting for the Bay Area rivalry.

THE FORMAT » Stanford and Cal battle in a mixed Match-Play format on Thursday, with seven total pairings in a best-ball effort to secure four team points. Matches will tee off every 12 minutes from the first tee box, starting with the first pairing at noon PT. 

THE PAIRINGS » The Cardinal rolls out the following seven pairs ahead of Thursday’s contest:

Noon – Kelly Xu / TK Chantananuwat

12:12 p.m. – Meja Ortengren / Jay Leng

12:24 p.m. – Andrea Revuelta / Nathan Wang

12:36 p.m. – Leigh Chien / Edan Cui

12:48 p.m. – Nora Sundberg / Cooper Stearns

1 p.m. – Paula Martin Sampedro / Ethan Gao

1 p.m. – Megha Ganne / Dean Greyserman

BIG MATCH HISTORY » Stanford and Cal will battle it out for the sixth time as the Cardinal looks to even the all-time series (3-2 Cal) after a 4-3 win last season. TK Chantananuwat, Nathan Wang and Ethan Gao are among the returners for the Cardinal that scored in last season’s win.

LAST TIME OUT » Stanford opened the 2025-26 campaign last weekend taking an 11th place finish at the OFCC/Fighting Illini Invitational. TK Chantananuwat led the Cardinal through 54 holes, placing 24th overall at 2-over for the tournament. Elsewhere, Jay Leng and Nathan Wang had solid starts to the season placing inside the top-50 with both turning in cards of 7-over. Freshman Edan Cui – who made his collegiate debut – also slotted inside the top-50, earning an 8-over card. 

ALL-ACC NATHAN » In his first season on The Farm, Nathan Wang had a stellar season culminating in the Cardinal’s first-ever ACC accolade with the junior being named to the All-ACC Team. Wang earned four top-20 finishes during the season and led the Cardinal with a 70.97 scoring average in 30 competitive rounds. Placing T-17 at Stanford’s debut in the ACC Championships, Wang earned his best finish of the season at the Western Collegiate placing T-5…
