Women’s Golf to Resume Fall Action at Windy City Collegiate


GOLF, Ill. – The preseason sixth-ranked Duke women’s golf program will resume fall action this week as the Blue Devils travel to the Windy City for the Windy City Collegiate Classic, which will be contested at the 6,368-yard, par-72 Glen View Club from Sept. 29-30. 
 
Seeing action along with Duke will be Northwestern, Arizona State (individuals only), Augusta, Columbia, Illinois, Iowa State, Michigan State, Purdue, SMU, Stanford (individuals only), UCLA and Virginia. 
 
The field will play 36 holes on Monday followed by 18 holes on Tuesday. 
 
Duke will travel a lineup that includes graduate student Andie Smith, junior Katie Li, sophomore Carla De Troia, sophomore Anna Cañado Espinal and freshman Avery McCrery.  Freshman Rianne Malixi will not be traveling with the team as she will be in Singapore for the World Amateur Team Championship. 
 
As a team, the Blue Devils were preseason ranked No. 6 nationally in the Golfweek and Golf Channel national rankings.  Smith, Malixi and McCrery have all been selected as preseason All-America selections. 
 
Duke is coming off closing strong at the ANNIKA Intercollegiate as the Blue Devils fired a 3-under, 285, in the final round.  Smith led the Duke charge with a 5-under, 67, on the final day, while McCrery shot even-par, while Li and Malixi signed for a 1-over, 73. 
 
The Blue Devil will tee off Monday morning at 9:15 a.m., along with UCLA and Purdue off hole No. 10.
