Freshman Michelle Woo Takes Second Individually

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Freshman Michelle Woo shot 1-under par to finish in second place individually and the California women’s golf team placed in a tie for third overall as the Molly Collegiate Invitational came to a close Tuesday at Trysting Tree Golf Club.

Woo, playing in just the second stroke play tournament of her career, spent some of the final round in a tie for the lead before finally settling for a runner-up finish. She pocketed an Eagle on the par-4, 370-yard eighth hole and carded a 1-over 73 for the day. Woo finished two strokes behind individual medalist Darae Chung of Oregon.

Junior Jasmine Kahler also recorded a top-10 finish, tying with five other golfers at 5-over par to place 10th.

The Bears are now off until they travel to Scotland to take part in the St. Andrews Link Collegiate along with Cal’s men’s program Oct. 13-15.
