Ing Iadpluem led North Carolina with a 1-under 69 on day one of the Ruth’s Chris Tar Heel Invitational Friday at Finley Golf Club.
NC State is the 18-hole leader after shooting 5-under-par 275. The Wolfpack were the only team to shoot below par and hold a six-stroke lead over Auburn (281). Duke and Purdue are tied for third (283), while UNC is tied with Virginia Tech for fifth at 3-over 283.
NC State’s Marie Madsen is the individual leader with a bogey-free 3-under 67. South Carolina’s Molly McLean and NC State’s Ellie Hildreth are tied for second at 68. Iadpluem is one of five players at 1 under, two shots behind Madsen.
UNC’s Reagan Southerland, Inez Ng and Grace Ridenour, the latter pair playing as individual entries, shot even par 70s. Helen Yeung and Marie Prats-Rigual shot 72, Katie Vu shot 73 and Ellen Yu carded a 74.
Round two begins Saturday at 8:20 a.m. The Tar Heels will be paired with Duke and Virginia Tech.
