Patience Rhodes Paces Women’s Golf at the Stanford Intercollegiate – Sun Devil Athletics

Stanford, Calif. Sun Devil Women’s Golf moved up a spot at the Stanford Intercollegiate thanks to another strong score on Saturday.

In a field that features 13 of the Top-30 teams in the initial Scoreboard rankings, Arizona State (-4/564) is tied for fourth alongside Pepperdine and UCLA after the second round. Host Stanford has the lead at -25, with Oregon and Arizona rounding out the top five teams after day two.

Arizona State put together a solid second round performance highlighted by several strong individual showings. Patience Rhodes led the way with a stellar 67 (-4), fueled by three birdies and an eagle. Paula Schulz-Hanssen followed closely behind, firing a 69 (-2) with four birdies. Kate Dillon continued the momentum with a 70 (-1), while freshman Isla McDonald-O’Brien carded a 72 (+1). Beth Coulter finished with a 74 (+3), rounding out the Sun Devil lineup.

Coach Farr-Kaye emphasized on the teams performance today: “Really proud of this team and really great effort, top to bottom. We’ve had a good game plan this week and everybody stuck to it and have been patient on this golf course. It’s a difficult golf course. It’s a good test and we were able to shave some shots off today. I think that our best day will be tomorrow cause I think that we’re still leaving some shots out there. So I’m excited to watch this team finish playing in the final pairing with some good teams. I think it’s gonna be a lot of fun tomorrow.”
