Sophomore All-American Eila Galitsky and junior Maylis Lamoure each finished in the top-10 to lead Carolina
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – No. 7 South Carolina finished fifth at the Ruth’s Chris Tar Heel Invitational on Sunday. The Gamecocks were led by top-10 finishes from sophomore All-American Eila Galitsky and junior Maylis Lamoure.
The team shot 862 (+22) over three days at Finley Golf Club picking up head-to-head wins over a trio of top-25 teams.
Galitksy led the way this week with a solo seventh finish at 2-over. She was steady with rounds of 72-70-70. Lamoure was a shot behind her at 3-over and was also steady with scores of 71-70-72. Galitksy has finished in the top-10 in every tournament this season and now has seven career top-10 finishes in nine starts at South Carolina. Lamoure’s top-10 finish was her first this season and the fifth of her career in 23 starts as a Gamecock.
Freshman Molly McLean finished just outside the top-20 in her collegiate debut at 7-over. She impressed in the first round Friday with a 2-under 68 that featured five birdies.
Junior Vairana Heck finished T-32nd and junior transfer Alicia Olsson T-57th. Heck shot 69 (-1) in round two to lead the team on Saturday making a pair of eagles, one coming at the par-5 eighth hole and the other at the par-4 10th hole. Her two eagles led the 81-player field over the course of 54 holes.
The team concludes the fall portion of its schedule next weekend at the Landfall Tradition (Oct. 24-26) in Wilmington, N.C. First round action gets underway Friday at Country Club of Landfall.
