STANFORD, CALIF. Sun Devil Women’s Golf finished fifth overall as the Stanford Intercollegiate came to a close on Sunday.

Arizona State (-4/548) ended in fifth place at the 19-team event hosted at Stanford Golf Course. 13 of the Top-30 ranked teams in the country competed for one of the most prestigious titles of the Fall. It was a total team effort that led the Maroon & Gold to another Top-5 team finish at a marquee event.

Leading the way for the Sun Devils was redshirt junior Patience Rhodes, who continues to deliver for her team. Rhodes finished tied for fifth, recording her second Top-10 finish of the Fall. Rhodes (-7/206) is proving to be one of the top golfers in the nation, finishing only three strokes back of individual champion Megha Ganne (-10/203) from Stanford.

The Maroon and Gold were able to take advantage of par four scoring. ASU finished second behind Stanford for the lowest par four scoring average. Patience Rhodes was also in the Top-5 of the par four category. Following a week off, Coach Farr-Kaye’s team is back in action Oct. 27-29 at the Nanea Invitational in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii.

Quotables
“Overall we had a solid tournament” Coach Farr-Kaye added. “All of the teams in the Top-10 are in the Top-20 in the country. It was great to see Patience have another really good finish. They hung in there until the last putt today which helped us bump up a spot.”

“This team continues to show a lot of strength and grit in how they compete, which I’m very proud of” Coach Farr-Kaye remarked. “We have a busy week at home and then head to the big island of Hawaii for our final tournament of the fall.”
