Illini Head to Landfall Tradition to Cap Off Fall Season


WILMINGTON, N.C. – The Fighting Illini head to the Tar Heel state to compete at the Landfall Tradition at the Country Club of Landfall. The tournament will be held from Friday, October 24, to Sunday, October 26.

THE SETTING

The Country Club of Landfall is one of the nation’s top collegiate golf venues. It features 45 holes of championship golf designed by renowned architects Pete Dye and Jack Nicklaus. This country club has also hosted the 1995 and 2010 NCAA Division I Championships. The Landfall Tradition Tournament has been held every year since 2002, except in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The course is set up for a par 72 and 6,106 yards. 

TOURNAMENT FORMAT

This 54-hole stroke play event will feature 18 holes on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Tee times on Sunday and Monday start at 8:30 a.m. CT, with the final round shotgun on Tuesday also set for an 8:45 a.m. CT start.

THE FIELD

Along with the Illini, this 18-team field features Alabama, UCF, Duke, Furman, Houston, Indiana, Kent St., Kentucky, Maryland, NC State, North Carolina, Notre Dame, Virginia Tech, SMU, South Carolina, Wake Forest, and UNCW

ILLINI AT LANDFALL TRADITION

This will be the fifth time Illinois has played at the Landfall Tradition. Most recently, the Illini finished tied for 13th in 2024. The Orange and Blue’s best finish at this event was 3rd in 2019.

UP NEXT

The Illini will return to action on Feb. 15, where they begin play at the Spartan Sun Coast Invitational at Palm Aire Country Club in Sarasota, Fla.
