BEDMINSTER, N.J. – Freshman Elizabeth Ryu from Rutgers women’s golf is tied for fifth after Saturday’s opening round of the Lehigh Invitational in Bedminster, New Jersey.
The rookie carded a three-over-par 75 to finish within the top five after round one action, rolling in birdies on holes 14, 17 and 18. Ryu is six strokes back of Old Dominion’s Puneet Bajwa, who leads the 93-player field with a three-under-par 69.
Junior Krystal Li is tied for 36th with her nine-over-par 81, highlighted by back-to-back birdies on holes eight and nine. Junior Emily James is tied for 72nd to round out action for the Scarlet Knights, who sent three student-athletes to compete as individuals.
Sunday’s final round from Trump Bedminster begins with an 11 a.m. shotgun start.
